Man i don't kiss butt to anyone. You know that.
I ain't perfect, but i sure don't play that, this is right because someone else says so.
We've talked about this. And yet you say the Bears didn't do TJ wrong last season?

TJ was not done wrong? It was a great deal for both.

How? He was basically last year told to deal or be let go. Because they spent so much money on Benson and a few others.

Honestly. TJ from Arizona to Tampa, to the leading rusher for the Bears.

What has Benson done that was so great.
Hell I am a throw back player and fan and he is just yet to prove himself.

I like him. Because he runs over folks. But he is in the same position Thomas was when he was following Jack the Snake in Arizona and then to Tampa.

I was about to let this go. But honestly. You and mega. Hello you think it's just all about money and turning out those who have talent vs those who don't care.

Would the Bears be in the Superbowl if TJ wasn't there. He can run, catch and help create matchups that ain't there with Benson.

It honestly has nothing to do with a kid who hasn't proven himself. If anything. TJ is a mentor figure to Benson in what he needs to be.

Hell i hope some day i am as smart as some of you others.

For now though. I hope TJ gets his ring. And Da Bears have to actually wish and hope he stays. Until Mr. Benson shows he is the man.

With that said. I'll leave you great one's to yourself.

Go TJ and Go Bears.

Cut or trade TJ and let's see how far you make it next year with just Grossman, Benson and a Good D. I'll bet it won't be the Superbowl.

Bud, there are 15 running backs out there just as good as him, when are you going to realize that. As Diets always says, running backs are a dime a dozen. You do realize the whole left side of the bears line is going to the pro bowl or was right there in the voting right?

Deal with what? The fact that they drafted another running back because TJ had never played 16 full games in a row? The bears were covering their own [censored] there. TJ never even had 1 1000 yard year until Benson was drafted. Hindsight is 20/20.

So he had to deal with it or be let go? Im not sure what you are trying to say here but if youre saying that he deserved A NEW CONTRACT after 1 good season at his age after never gaining more than 1000 yards in a season then, I wish youd just go ahead and buy the packers and be their GM because I wouldnt wish that on any other team in the league.

The "or be traded" part really doesnt make any sense. Angelo dangled him out there on the market, he wasnt satisfied with what he was offered.

Which goes back to my original comments, if he was as great as you say, then why was he never offered for anything more than a 3rd rounder or Ashlee Lelie. Its not because he isnt good, he is good, but hes not an elite back and there are guys out there just like him. Ever heard of Chester Taylor? Hes a good running back with similar stats. He got a nice little contract just like TJ did. However, I think the vikings could replace him with someone else just as easy.

It is about money, the salary cap is really important. If you dont manage it well, you end up like the Oakland Raiders.

Good GMs know how to deal with player personel. Look at Scott Pioli in New England. He got rid of McGinist, Law, Givens, Branch, Patton, Washington, etc and the Pats havent missed a beat.

You cant be throwing money around like Daniel Snyder if you want to be successful in the nfl with the salary cap, yet you seem to be disregarding that in every post.

So when did TJ win that rushing title?

Re: Thomas Jones = SW VA pride

All im saying is the Bears didnt do TJ wrong. Did I think the Bears were stupid for drafting Benson. Yes, did I want Mike Williams at the time. Yes. Though the thing I really wanted was for the bears to trade down and stockpile picks. Im not sure how well that would have worked, but whats done is done. I think the Bears should keep TJ to be honest, if TJ holdouts out then you see what you can get for him. I just think the Bears offense with both TJ and Benson can be great. They actually compliment each other really well. If they keep TJ and Benson, then I believe the Bears will be in the same position next season, going to the SuperBowl. Resign every key component this offseason, and hope the salary cap goes up enough to give TJ a new deal but probably not a long term deal because running backs tend to tire out after around 32. With TJ this might not be the case though, because of his amazing work ethic, and Benson may keep him fresh.

The Bears with both Benson and Jones are very dangerous IMO, I just wish instead of switching them out every other drive they would actually sub in and out during drives as well sometimes to keep the defenses off balance.

But like I said before. TJ and the Bears have worked out quite well for each other, maybe it will not be a marriage, but a really good relationship that both parties was able to grow from, maybe there will be a messy breakup. Who knows.

Lets just ask this, where would Thomas Jones be today if he hadnt signed with the Bears? Probably sitting at home next Sunday with the rest of America. Where would the Bears be? Maybe the same, but they were still a Super Bowl caliber team, regardless. It is what it is. Lets enjoy while it lasts.

DOH, thank god they drafted anyone but him. Glad they didnt trade down either or Troy Williamson may have been picked.

I like the way Angelo drafts though, he gets all the good players in rounds 2-5 so he doesnt have to pay for greatness.

Back to your post though, they do compliment each other well. This year TJ has played through nagging injuries. Im really not sure if he would have made it the full 16 games without another running back getting half the carries.

Hopefully they can get everyone resigned and even give Jones another contract. With Rosenhaus as his agent though, I expect him to want a longer term deal than what they will offer. Preserving the defense is the top priority, after that we shall see. Its not like the bears are bullet proof, they could really use better safties without Mike Brown.

Well for one thing mega you take every thing personal. Way to personal. Anyone disagrees with you. You go straight for the juglar. Their wrong and i'm right no matter what.
I may be wrong on this. But i do think if the Bears do what is being leaked out. They will regret it.

I didn't start that way with this. To po anyone. I just don't understand the Bears logic.
I read it on an insider web site that TJ and two other offensive players and two defensive players would probably not be returning to the Bears next season.

Ok we know how the talk is. But why would the Bears, two weeks before the biggest game they have had since 1985, begin talks of cuts.

And guys if you know anything about pro sports, you know not everyone that is drafted high works out. Not just football but any sport.

My only opinion and my only thoughts about this whole deal. Thomas has earned his way to where he is. He has been the feature back for the Bears for two years, staying in shape and with his ability, he has several good years left. Yet their willing to let him go and possibly four for five other starters.
Is Benson worth all that?
Benson is a good back but uproven, in his ability and actually in his desire, for the game.
And like i said. I like him and his style of running. But i do question his durability and his desire.

Your basically gonna give up 4-5 players to keep one in the long run.
I'm just being honest. If it's me. I find another avenue to reduce my salary cap.
Right after the NFC title game. It was give Lovie the money. And he deserves it.
But what if he let's all these cut go on and next year the Bears end up like the Steeler's. Will it be his fault. Or will it be the front office. Coaches take the hit for wins and losses.
Look at Marty and what they did at San Diego. Yet who's job was on the line at the end of the season.

More to look at than just cutting people. Cause you may not have or get back what you get rid of. And like i said. Who takes the heat for wins and losses. Not the front office.

What does that mean, you need to elaborate if you want a response. BTW, "I may be wrong on this with a period at the end is not even a complete sentence, work on that please otherwise it takes longer to read.

You never PO'd me, Im just telling you the logistics of it. Theres alot more to it than two guys playing 1 position yet you dont seem to understand that. Angelo brought in Jones, dont you think he wants him to succeed?

If TJ doesnt return it will be via trade, hes under contract. Whats your point?

There are 7 rounds dude, we know that, Ive been trying to tell you that.

Uh yeah, I think that was established already. Still youre not saying anything that any of us disagree with.

WE DONT KNOW, WEVE TOLD YOU THAT TOO.

We also told you about his durability, what part of that can you not grasp?

Ian Scott is cheap, Lance Briggs will be expensive. Yet the Bears are 25 million under the cap. They will let certain guys go and certain guys will stay. Angelo will draft more good players and bring those guys in for the others that are departed.

If you havent noticed yet, only 1 team, the patriots have been able to establish any sort of dynasty over the last 10 years. If the beare suck next year, they suck. Its the parody of the league these days, this is salary cap football. Understand that please.

Lovie Smith will get paid and hes still under contract for another year, thats a non issue that does not involve the cap.

Taking heat for wins and loses is what everyone is responsible for. Cedric Benson is one contract however they will have to make tough decisions to keep their star players. Lance Briggs is a star, Thomas is not. I hate to disappoint you there. You have to make the pro bowl at least once before you are a star.

Answer the question or quit posting, when did TJ win a rushing title? Again, Im not PO'd at all, but you have no arguement here. You even argue when I agree with you, that makes no sense.

Ah maybe some day TJ will earn that superstar status, that deserves staying on a team and earning the big bucks.

There is no use saying anything to you mega or pointing out anything.
Heck your right. That is just how it is. No matter what. In your rationale your always right.
You can't point out anything to anyone, who already has the preconcieved notions, that their already right, and no one else's opinion matters, no matter what.
Some say that about me. But i do think about other things and others views other than my own. Because i know im not always right. Some times i'm not right half the time.
I like you man. Just don't understand that attitude.

Re: Thomas Jones = SW VA pride

Theres no right or wrong here, I wasnt even arguing with you, its just a sports debate, I wasnt taking it as anything more or less. Clearly though, you need to take some things into consideration that you havent.

TJ deserves alot of praise, but his future is uncertain. It doesnt matter who starts or who plays, it doesnt matter who is drafted and who isnt. If the Bears stink next year, ill still be a fan, ive liked them my whole life and they never win. If TJ gets negative yards in the superbowl ill still be a fan. If Benson lays the ball on the ground and loses the game, ill still be a fan. Im passionate about my bears and I could care less who plays and where they are from.
